Ahead of the National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST) coming up November in Jos, the event Technical Committee members visited Governor Simon Bako Lalong today, at the Government House Little Rayfield.
The Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Segun Runsewe led the delegation to the Plateau State Government House, and did praised Governor Lalong for approving the hosting of the event in Jos.
Otunba said this year NAFEST will be a historic event because the host Plateau State is the Home of Peace and Tourism and has a rich cultural history that has been at the centre of national development in many ways.
He said “Plateau State is an allure to many people within and outside Nigeria. With the restoration of peace to the State, you have increased the invitation for development and progress of the people. This is why tourism and culture can now be used as a tool for improving the economic fortunes of our people and showcasing the hospitality and beauty of Plateau. This we will achieve by staging NAFEST”.
Governor Lalong in his response, said Plateau State was honoured to host NAFEST 2020 edition, because it is a further confirmation of the peace and tranquillity pervading in the State which makes development possible.
Barr. Lalong assured the Committee that, the Government will expedite action on the completion of the Luka Bentu Indoor Theatre to be used for the event while the airlines operating to Jos have been advised to make quality arrangements for people attending the event.
The Governor added that, the State will ensure that everything regarding the event is done in line with COVID-19 protocols even with the recent significant drop in the number of cases due to the proactive approach adopted by the Government.
