The Plateau State COVID-19 medical research team established by Governor Simon Bako Lalong to work on a cure for the corona virus pandemic has briefed the Governor on the progress of the assignment.
Lead researcher Prof. Noel Wannang, While presenting an interim report to Governor Lalong at the State Government House, Little Rayfield Jos, said the research team had concluded the first phase of the work which is the pre-clinical stage with tremendous success in line.
Prof. Noel added that the next stage is the clinical stage where the samples will be tested on human beings for further processing. He added that the research papers for the remedies have been published in national and international medical journals already.
He further stated that the medical research team has patented the products under the name COPLA I, II and III, which has been submitted to regulatory agencies for further scrutiny and evaluation.
Plateau State Governor, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong while responding, said he was so proud of the research team for the level of achievements so far, promising to also reach out to relevant government and private sector organisations for further funding of the research.
