[New Post]: Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu Signed Bill For 21-Year Jail Term For Convicted Cultist Into Law.

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appended his signature to the bill for the Prohibition of Unlawful Societies and Cultism of 2021 into law.

The law which was signed today, sets a twenty-one (21) year jail term for any convicted cultists and a fifteen (15) year jail term for anyone found guilty of abetting cultists in the Lagos State. 

The new law repeals the Cultism (Prohibition) Law of 2007 (now Cap. C18, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015) and will provides for more stiff punitive measures, and is applicable to the general public, as against the restriction of the previous law to students of all tertiary institutions in the State.
