You usually combine two or more foods to nourish yourself and make your plate tasty.
However, some foods must be eaten separately since the time required for their digestion and the condition required for their digestion are different.
A bad combination of foods can lead to stomach pain, bloating, fatigue, gas, and discomfort.
If you continue to consume the wrong food combination for a long period, it can lead to rashes, chronic digestion problems, and bad breath.
Only with the right combination of foods will you be able to lose weight and stay energetic throughout the day. Here is a list of food combinations that are harmful to your health and that you should avoid.
1. Two high-protein foods
Eggs and bacon are popular breakfast foods, but it’s wise to avoid this combination. These two foods are rich in protein and weigh heavily on your stomach. It will take longer to digest both. It’s recommended you eat light protein first and then your meat lastly.
2. Citrus and milk
Studies shows that milk takes longer time to digest, and when you have milk and lemon or any citrus fruit together, the milk coagulates. This can cause gas and heart burns. Some people who are also lactose intolerant, will find it difficult to digest the lactose in milk.
3. Milk and banana
The combination of milk and banana is heavy and takes a long time to digest. As the food is digested, you will experience fatigue. If you like to drink banana smoothies, add a pinch of cinnamon or ground nutmeg to promote digestion.
4. Fruit with your food
Your stomach can easily digest fruits, but your food may take longer. So until the food is digested, the fruit also stops and begins to ferment. Try to avoid eating fruits with your meal or right after your meal.
5. Cheesy meal with a cold drink
Who doesn’t love pizza with coke? As tempting as it may sound, this combination is not good for your health. You should avoid drinking a cold drink with a cheesy meal as the combination can lead to absorption difficulties. It can cause stomach pain and discomfort.
So the next time you sit down for a snack or meal, try to avoid this food combination.
Eat safely to stay healthy!
