“Does money really answers to all things?” I asked my Sunday school teacher after he read the scripture, “Money answereth all things.”
I couldn’t comprehend it. I know that people with money die from sickness. If money answers to all things, wealthy people will never die.
My teacher did his best to let me know that it was designed by our Maker that every living thing must die. So wealth can’t change it. But he made one remark, that stayed with me to this day. “Yes wealthy people die. But money helped them to live long enough from sickness that would ordinary take a poor man’s life. More importantly, all deaths are not the same.”
Those thoughts lingered in my mind and never left me. I understand his point of view more today. Money puts good food on the table, nice shelter over your head, access to good medical attention which helps to speedy recovery or elongates life, etc.
Yet I know that there is something money can never solve.
I knew what money can not solve when I came across the statement, “The poor you will ALWAYS have around you.”
In essence, MONEY CANNOT SOLVE POVERTY.
Poverty is not lack of money. Poverty is the absence of abundance mentality.
I see people fight over change or hold on to change because they fear that if they lose it, it may not come back.
It’s the reason that marketing may be viewed as an expense instead of an investment.
It’s the reason why political office holders, particularly in our clime, kill to die in office.
Something some how or some where tells them that if they lose what they have, they will be doomed.
Hence, the key is to hoard and keep hoarding.
May be the definition of economics being about managing scarce resources is what is fueling poverty at very unconscious levels.
Nothing is scarce. It is only limited thinking that makes things scarce.
Embrace wealth by thinking in abundance.
