THE NEED FOR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION IN NIGERIA’S EDUCATION SYSTEM – Oluomo Adeleke

The federal government should establish and enforce suitable sanctions and consequences for individuals engaging in illegal activities within Nigeria’s education system. The practice of treating certain individuals as above the law has hindered progress.

The phenomenon of Nigerians pursuing subpar degrees and certificates from neighboring countries is concerning. Moreover, some individuals who have not even traveled abroad are being awarded certificates. Additionally, top officials are obtaining questionable academic credentials and professorial ranks, undermining Nigerian education.

The federal government must take decisive action to:

– Establish and enforce sanctions for educational malpractices
– Strengthen admissions requirements in Nigerian institutions
– Promote quality education and certification
– Hold top officials accountable for their actions

Only through such measures can we hope to achieve meaningful reform in Nigeria’s education system.
