In line with the key agenda of the Young Medical Laboratory Scientists Forum (YMLSF) FCT executives of fostering strategic collaborative synergy, spotlighting and revitalizing the forum. A team of Young Medical Laboratory Scientists in FCT today 21st November, 2023 paid a courtesy visit to Mrs Abiodun Omowumi Essiet the SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANT to the PRESIDENT, SENATOR BOLA AHMED TINUBU, GCFR on COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT (NORTH CENTRAL)<\/p>\n
The objective of the visit was to felicitate with her on a well-deserved appointment as SSA to the President on COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT (NORTH CENTRAL), introduce the newly elected executives of the YMLSF FCT, and align strategic activities of the forum with her office.<\/p>\n Chairman of the YMLSF FCT, MLS Stephanie Omoarebun who led the team appreciated her for the warm reception extended the team and gave a background of the forum while reiterating its’ mission, and vision. She also presented the key agenda of the 4th state executive officers tagged “THE SITE MANDATE” while highlighting collaborative areas of the forum with her office. The YMLSF FCT chairman emphasized the immense benefits from a collaborative relationship between her office and the YMLSF FCT considering the vibrant and innovative spirit of members of the forum.<\/p>\n The Chairman equally seized the opportunity to bring to light some issues bothering Young Medical Laboratory Scientists in FCT which includes:<\/p>\n \u2022 Poor private sector salary for Medical Laboratory Scientists in FCT<\/p>\n \u2022 Non employment of Medical Laboratory Scientists in the FCT primary healthcare sector<\/p>\n In her remarks, the SSA congratulated the forum for entrenching gender equity through the election of a female as her chairman. She also noted the key issues raised and expressed concerns on the poor payment of young colleagues despite the proficient work medical laboratory scientists do. She immediately tasked the forum to articulate a formal documentation of these issues as it relates to poor payment, which will guide her in engagements with relevant stakeholders.<\/p>\n Mrs Abiodun also promised to help bring attention of the forums’ challenges to key stakeholders including the Hon. Minister of Health, FCT Primary Healthcare Board, Mandate Secretary for FCT Health and Environmental Secretariat, etc.<\/p>\n In a surprising show of appreciation for the visit, the SSA announced the inclusion of the forum in her administration and tasked the YMLSF FCT Chairman to collate contact details of all YMLSF Chairmen in the North Central Zone as well as the YMLSF Vice President North Central for onward addition to the North Central Community Engagement Group.<\/p>\n Mrs Abiodun Essiet further urged the chairman to keep up the good work and continually show creativity and initiative, as the youth play an important role in the development of a country and society. She charged the chairman to continue on the path of collaboration and association, and on a lighter note, asked that she reviews her title as “Chairman” to “Chairperson” for inclusion and diversity.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/afrib.org.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1700602546769-298x300.png\")
