Factional Speaker of the Edo state house of Assembly (EDHA) Hon. Frank Okiye who was elected by minority of Edo House of Assembly members Elect, has been allegedly impeached today, Monday 12th October, 2020 and Hon. Marcus Onobun was made to replace him as the new factional Speaker of the House after taking the oath of office.
The change in the leadership of the EDHA may not be unconnected with a brewing feud between the Governor of Edo state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Phillip Shuaibu.
However, what prompted the power tussle between the Governor and his Deputy is yet unknown, considering the fact that election has just been concluded.
It could however be recalled that, the majority 17 members of the Edo state House of Assembly, has Rt. Hon. Victor Sabor Edoror as the Speaker of the House.
