Members of Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) from various walks of life today gathered at the Osuntokun hall of the University College Hospital, Ibadan to pay their last respect to a Medical laboratory science icon and a former AMLSN National President, Pa Titus Adewale Adesina.
The Valedictory Session chaired by one of the profession’s foremost Medical Laboratory Scientist in the Southwest, Mrs Silifat Sobulo.
In her glowing tributes, the Chairman eulogized Pa Adesina so well even though she wasn’t particularly happy but declared that ‘we, as a profession can’t be sad’ because Pa Adesina has left indelible marks that cannot be erased.
In his tribute, AMLSN National President, Prof. James Damen described Pa Adesina as a distinguished Elder, a rare father with an understanding difference, a seasoned administrator and an Iroko tree of medical laboratory science profession.
In her welcome speech, the Chairman, Valedictory Planning Committee and the AMLSN National Treasurer, MLS Funke Akinade noted that “baba has done his part and has passed the baton to us as a generation”, she welcomed everyone present thanking them for making out time to attend the programme.
A well detailed biography of Pa Titus Adesina was then read by AMLSN National Publicity Secretary, MLS Soji Billyrose.
In the Valedictory lecture delivered by Dr John Ochei, he gave glowing instances of Pa Adesina’s bold stance and passion for the profession wherein he fought passionately for the recognition of the rightful position of Medical laboratory science in the Federal Ministry of Health and Nigeria.
In his remarks, Mr Adeniyi Adesina, who represented the Adesinas said the family was overwhelmed by this large show of love and respect for the patriarch of their family.
A procession was later led by the AMLSN National Executives from the College Hospital morgue to the gate where’s Baba’s body was eventually waved goodbye for the final obsequies.
