A 29 year old woman has disarmed some kidnappers and set free three other captives in Plateau State, Nigeria.

The brave woman identified as Lucy Tapnang Jeremiah, who was abducted along three (3) others, was reported to snatched an AK47 rifle from one of the kidnappers, while she got a knife injury, but got the kidnappers’ plan frustrated.
The Abuja based lady was travelling in a Sharon vehicle with seven (7) other passengers to Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State for a wedding, and to celebrate Christmas when their vehicle was stopped by the kidnappers.
Tapnan who shared her horrific experience in the State Police Headquarters in Jos.
said: “They were approaching Government Science School, Kuru, when the kidnappers ordered their car to stop. She added that she saw a man standing in front of the car door holding a gun and instructing everyone on board to come down and surrender their phones and cash.
The kidnappers selected four (4) of out of the seven (7) passengers and led them into the forest, leaving the remaining three at the scene.”
At a point, she “told the other passengers, you guys are men; lets attack them and free ourselves from them, but they complained that the men were armed with dangerous weapons so any attempt will lead to death.
“She then vowed that no matter what they’re holding her God would protect her, so, pleaded that if she hold the one with the gun, they should rush at the one holding a knife.
She went further to state that immediately she grabbed the man with the AK47 and he shouted, and at that point the one with a knife attacked her wanting to pierce her stomach but she dodged it and the knife entered her leg.”
The State Police spokesman, Alfred Alabo had confirmed the incident, saying upon receiving the report of the attack, the “Command immediately spread dragnets across the state in a bid to rescue the victims unhurt and apprehend the suspects”.
Alabo said while the policemen were on their way to the scene, “one of the victims, a female, by name Lucy Jeremiah Tapnang, had displayed rare bravery by challenging her captors’.
Tapnang and the three (3) others were taken to a Nigeria Police Clinic for assessment and treatment, while the hunt for the kidnappers was on, the Police spokesman said.
