For many years, we have been clamoring and agitating to have a higher institution in Owan land, being top of Owan developmental wishlist.
Thankfully, the Honorable member representing the Constituency at the Green Chamber, Hon. (Prof.) Julius Ihonvbere has successfully pushed a Bill for the Establishment of University of Sports, Afuze.
The Bill has succeeded all the stages (Readings) in the Lower House and referred to the Senate for finality.
It was expected that the Senator representing the Constituency would readily and jealously follow up to protect the Bill to ensure its successful passage in the Senate.
Howbeit, that is not the case here, the Senator who has been seemingly sleeping for about eight years on the Red floor of the Senate with no significant impact in the Constituency and on the people he represents, slept on this very germane Bill or perhaps took no interest in it.
The bad news for us today is that another Senator from South East has out-smartly taken it up and now pushing vehemently for a similar Bill of same subject for the establishment of University Sports in his Constituency in Ebonyi State.
The Bill for the establishment of University of Sports, Afuze which succeeded in the Lower House, has now been put on hold in the Upper House owing to the vibrancy of the Senator from Ebonyi State and the docility of the Senator from Edo North.
At this point, what Owan desire most is to have the pending Bill successfully passed by all means in the next dispensation.
A Senator who spent eight years sleeping, only to wake up and say he wants to recontest, cannot guarantee us that.
To have even shown an interest to recontest is an aberration to the people of Afenmai and Owan in particular, which must be resisted and spurned in entirety.

Sen. Alemilkhena has to give way for a more vibrant representation, so that he can have enough time to sleep and rest, while we move our Constituency forward.
In this election, we shall be substituting docility for vibrancy in Edo North Senatorial District.
