[OPINION POST]: NIGERIA AND SYSTEMIC RECYCLING OF POVERTY – OLANREWAJU OLUBAYO.

The Federal government’s approach to poverty alleviation seem to me to be anything but reasonable and workable. If an average artisan gets a certain amount of cash [in this case,a meagre 30,000 Naira] regardless of how much it is to aid their businesses and the internal facilitating mechanisms that could aid such businesses aren’t readily available then of what use is the money?

Power supply is in comatose, terrible transportation network, inflation rate and market indices aren’t encouraging, multiple taxation, unpleasant government regulations, unfriendly business ecosystem, failed social system and a failing economy… all which contributes to business development are already problems to think of;all these problematic factors would drain up the money in no time!

Here, we have a system of putting the cart before the horse, a rational approach would have been fixing the major factors first and even without the cash, businesses would of a certainty be brimming back to life and flourishing but…

So invariably the money [if sincerely distributed] meant to alleviate suffering of the artisans would at the end of the day translate to no meaningful value for them and certainly, this is a system that only seem to work hard but to recycle poverty instead of alleviating it, obviously, we don’t have a thinking government!
