[INDEPENDENCE DAY]: Four Prisoners Who Got Absolute Pardon In Plateau State.

The executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt.Hon. Simon Lalong made this known when he addressed citizens of the state to mark the 61st Independence Anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at the Rawg Pam Township Stadium.

Governor Lalong stated that after due consultation with the Plateau State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, he has granted absolute pardon to four (4) prisoners serving different jail terms having been convicted for various offences.

The four who got the Governor’s pardon are OBINNA JOHN, SAGIR MUKAILA, TERYILE ISHI and DANIEL HONOK whose pardons are granted for reasons of their good conduct, with effect from the different dates of sentences on them.  The Governor did this in the spirit of the Nigeria 61st Independence Anniversary and in exercising the power conferred on the executive Governor in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as Amended).

The Governor added that this year independence celebration is coming at a time when the nation is going through so many challenges in almost every sector, but this is not to make us despair or lose hope in our dear country, or ignore the giant strides that have been made over the past years as Nigeria remains a nation full of potentials (tapped and untapped) blessed with so much human and material resources that makes her an envy of the world.
