The Spanish league leaders today opened the year with a disappointing game and had their first defeat in 11 La Liga games. Getafe 1-0 victory over the Carlo Ancelotti Real Madrid has brought to an end a run of 15 matches without a victory over the visitors.
Real Madrid defender Eder Militao indecision gave the host the early and needed goal to start the year victorious. Getafe’s forward, Enes Unal had is sixth goal for the season with the 9th minutes strike underneath Madrid favourite goal stopper Thibaut Courtois.
The visitors had it difficult to get into the game after the early goal, this led to the early half time changes made by the frustrated Carlo Ancelotti to bring in the duo of Eden Hazard and Marcelo who neither made impact immediately.
Finding an equaliser became impossible for the Madrid team as the host resilient defence held back to secure their victory to end the visitors six match unbeaten run.
The game ended with 5 yellow cards and the Getafe goalkeeper having more saves in the game.
