There is palpable tension in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State following a dastard attack on PDP supporters by gunmen in the campaign train of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to eyewitnesses, the masked gunmen in the convoy of Ize-Iyamu halted at Ekpe Community where the people democratic part (PDP) supporters were holding meeting and opened gunfire on them, resulting in eight (8) persons sustaining severe gunshot injuries.
The terror-mongers thereafter advanced to Ososo Town where they also shot at three persons upon sighting them with Obaseki’s branded fezcaps.
The victims numbering about eleven were quickly rushed to Archbishop Adetiloye Hospital in Ibillo and some referred to Irrua Specialist Hospital for Specialist care.
Delegation of Akoko-Edo PDP Chieftains who visited the victims at various hospitals condemned the heinous act and called on security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.

Rt. Hon.(Alhaji) Kabiru Adjoto who led the delegation said Akoko-Edo people are known for peaceful coexistence and wondered why members of the opposition were bent on truncating it.

While admonishing PDP supporters to shun any sort of reprisal attack, he assured the victims and their families that the perpetrators of the evil act would face the full wrath of the law.
